To the contrary, he’s hit on a number of things that have played out in real time. Of course, none of that is to say that Carr hasn’t become one of the premier headline-beaters in the game today. And that makes Reece more human and more relatable than just about anyone else in the genre. Whereas others excel at beating headlines, Carr presses emotional buttons that other writers wouldn’t dare explore.
Though his series is fictional, there’s an unprecedented level of realism at play here too, and it’s done in a way that few other authors can match. For Reece, of course, as he defies the odds and goes to war with the shadowy forces behind all the events in this book, but even beyond that, Carr has managed to pack and deliver that message in a way that, frankly, is inspirational to his readers. The famous “never tell me the odds” attitude that he became so known for when his debut novel rocked the thriller world to its core in 2018 is front and center here. In a way, this book embodies everything Jack Carr is about.
